We study intercellular communication in plant development

We are looking for bachelor, master, PhD students or postdocs with a background in bioinformatics or microscopy and interest in cell signalling, gene regulatory networks, plasmodesmata

Stem cell regulation in plants

We investigate functions of the plant shoot apical meristem and the role of cell communication in stem cell maintenance and differentiation

Plant architecture and resource allocation

Grasses like barley have a distinct architecture, and we investigate the underlying design principles based on number, size, identity and activity of meristems

Plasmodesmata are plant communication channels

Plant cells are connected by pores that allow the transport of nutrients, RNA and proteins. In a collaboration between 4 laboratories, we investigate their structure, function and evolution.

Peptide and receptor kinase signalling pathways

Plant cells communicate via secreted peptides that are recognised by receptors on the plasmamembrane. We study receptor functions, their interaction and turnover.
